5 Great GTFO Loadouts for Multiplayer (2024)

GTFO is a brutal game. Players who want to survive the darkness of the abyss need to bring the right gear and weapons to combat the monsters skulking around every corner. Lack of knowledge will get you and your team killed. That’s why bringing the right loadout in GTFO is vital to your survival. Every loadout in GTFO contains a Main and Special Weapon, a Tool, and a Melee Weapon.

Every weapon serves a purpose or a specific role. Knowing your weapon’s strengths and weaknesses helps you balance your team composition or the situational use for both weapon choices. For example, precision weapons allow you to pick off high-priority targets at a distance. Alternatively, general-purpose weapons can fulfill a need for any situation but not excel in any area.

Tools also bring more utility to your squad, such as the Biotracker or C-Foam Launcher, or assist in locking down choke points with the Auto Sentry or Mine Deployer. The choice is always up to you, but you should work with your GTFO teammates to ensure that everyone isn’t running a horde killer loadout, or your team will struggle to kill any giant monsters.

5. Supportive High Stagger Loadout for GTFO’s Hordes

5 Great GTFO Loadouts for Multiplayer (1)

Main Weapon: Shelling S49 Pistol

The Pistol is a fantastic sidearm with the strength to hold its own in extremely close-quarters situations. It has high damage and staggers small enemies with one bullet, setting up for easy headshots. The Pistol also sports a fast reload, strong ammo efficiency, and has an extremely accurate hipfire.

We recommend this weapon mainly for its ammo efficiency, effectively trading two bullets for one kill if your accuracy is good, and the guaranteed high stagger, which sets up easy headshots for yourself, or your team members.

Special Weapon: Machine Gun XII

The Machine Gun is the perfect weapon for those who love to spray and pray into large hordes of enemies. This weapon has average damage and fire rate but also has great ammo efficiency like the Pistol. The Machine Gun also has a 60-round magazine and has fantastic hip fire accuracy, allowing you to chip away hordes while procing stagger consistently.

We recommend the Machine Gun in this GTFO loadout for the same reasons we recommended the Pistol. Where the Pistol can also be a great crowd control weapon, it also comes with more precision, allowing for picking off isolated targets with ease. However, if an alarm sounds off and there’s a massive horde barreling down a corridor, the Machine Gun will tear through them and keep them at bay with constant stagger procs.

Tool: Mechatronic SGB3 Burst Sentry

The Burst Sentry is one of the many alternate sentry variants, giving up raw damage in favor of greater ammunition reserves and high stagger chance. The Burst Sentry fires up to 25 meters in three-round bursts with a one-second delay between shots. This tool is great for assisting in pushing back hordes of monsters with its high fire rate and high stagger chance.

A hidden benefit of the Burst Sentry is due to its low damage. All sentries can distinguish friend from foe but will fire if an enemy comes too close to a player. If a player is caught in the crossfire, they will take a low amount of damage compared to standing in the firing range of a Sniper sentry. It’s a blessing in disguise that most players don’t consider. The Burst Sentry also has the largest ammo pool compared to the other sentry guns, bringing 296 max ammo, whereas the Shotgun sentry only carries 42 rounds.

Melee Weapon: Kovac Peacekeeper Bat

Both offer the highest stagger multipliers between the Bat and the Sledge Hammer, but for this GTFO loadout, we recommend taking the Bat. The Pistol has a high reload speed, but the Machine gun doesn’t. In the emergency case where you have monsters clawing at you and you need to reload your Machine gun, swapping to the Bat is the better option since it has the second highest charge time and sticks to our high stagger build.

4. Deadly Precision Loadout for Ranged Combat in GTFO

5 Great GTFO Loadouts for Multiplayer (2)

Main Weapon: TR22 Hanaway DMR

The DMR is a semi-automatic rifle designed to pick off high-priority targets before they come in contact with your team. The DMR’s great damage allows you to one-shot Shooters and leaves Strikers on extremely low health with a single headshot. With an extremely effective range of 50 meters, you will never worry about fall-off damage when using the DMR.

The DMR is a powerful precision weapon that fits well in this precision GTFO loadout. Yet, it should be used in moderation due to the lack of ammo it brings. Moreover, the DMR suffers in close-quarters combat, has awful ammo efficiency, and has a very slow rate of fire. Besides these downsides, the DMR is highly versatile in dealing with any non-giant enemy and is a favorite community weapon.

Köning PR 11 Sniper – The Most Iconic Special Weapon for a GTFO Precision Loadout

GTFO’s Sniper is the strongest weapon you can wield. Against the rarer boss enemies like the Tank or Mother, this weapon takes chunks out of their health bars if you can reliably hit their weak points. The Sniper one-shots Scouts, Giant enemies, and Hybrids with a single headshot.

Wielding such a godlike weapon, capable of one-tapping almost any enemy at an extremely long range, comes with its drawbacks. The Sniper has a low rate of fire but doesn’t impact the weapon very much since any monster on the opposite side of the barrel will turn into a red paste after one shot.

Its real downside is its ammo efficiency. The Sniper can only carry a maximum of 12 rounds in reserves and only three in its magazine. We strongly recommend only using this weapon in your loadout to eliminate giant threats in GTFO that would scatter your team.

Tool: Mechatronic B5 LFR Shotgun Sentry

While we would recommend using the Sniper Sentry, we found that the Shotgun Sentry made up for a few weaknesses this GTFO build brings. The lack of reliable close-range weaponry causes you to rely heavily on your teammates to keep enemies from swarming you. To help keep enemies away from you, we recommend using the Shotgun Sentry to compensate for the lack of close-range firepower.

Melee: Santonian HDH Sledgehammer

For the same reason we chose to bring the Shotgun Sentry, we picked the Sledgehammer to complement the lack of reliable close-range damage. The Sledgehammer has the longest charged attack windup compared to the other melee weapons, but it also deals the highest amount of damage. It’s a great close-range weapon in GTFO for a precision build to still stay relevant at any range.

3. Close Range GTFO Loadout

5 Great GTFO Loadouts for Multiplayer (3)

Main Weapon: Bataldo J 300 Hel Shotgun

The HEL Shotgun is one of the newest weapons introduced in GTFO’s seventh Rundown. The HEL Shotgun is the first Shotgun equipped as a Main weapon. Fitted with a 14-round magazine and a holographic sight and is capable of piercing up to two targets with each shell. The HEL Shotgun isn’t as devastating as its Special Weapon counterparts, but its horde-clearing capabilities excel at extremely close ranges.

All Shotguns in GTFO are somewhat inconsistent, potentially taking down a single Sleeper in one headshot, but other times two. Due to the inconsistency with pellets, we recommend using the HEL Shotgun at a close range of three meters or less. It’s still a fantastic weapon to add to any GTFO loadout, and it’s fun to unload into oncoming swarms of enemies. Yet, be careful not to spend all of your ammo in a single firefight.

Special Weapon: Buckland XDIST2 Choke Mod Shotgun

The Choke Mod Shotgun is similar to the standard Shotgun but trades magazine size for extra range. The Choke Mod Shotgun has a four-round magazine, fires faster than the standard Shotgun, and has an effective range of 15 meters. Both versions of the Shotgun allow you to easily decimate giant enemies, Chargers, or any tanky enemies.

We chose the Choke Mod Shotgun to give this GTFO build a ranged option to deal with Giant Shooters or any threats they cannot reach through a crowd of Strikers. If your team composition has a lot of ranged firepower, you can swap out the Choke Mod Shotgun for the standard Shotgun.

The standard Shotgun has a bigger magazine but less range and rate of fire. You will still kill monsters with the same firepower; it’s just down to a preference of range or rate of fire.

Tool: Kriger 04 Mine Deployer

The Mine Deployer places mines with a laser sensor that detonates when an enemy comes in contact with it. This tool is helpful for locking down doors or entrances from which monsters would rapidly swarm. It can be challenging to gain maximum value from each mine though in any GTFO loadout.

Each mine’s tripwire laser will set off the explosion after the first enemy, making it difficult to take out entire swarms. Make sure to place individual mines at tight chokepoints or behind doors where enemies will gather up to gain the most out of each mine.

Melee Weapon: Kovac Peacekeeper Bat

We also recommend the Bat for this GTFO build. Since the focus of this GTFO loadout is to stick close to the enemies, the fast charge swing comes in handy if you need to swap to your melee in an emergency.

2. Jack of All Trades GTFO Loadout

5 Great GTFO Loadouts for Multiplayer (4)

Main Weapon: Malatack LX Assault Rifle

This Main Weapon fits the jack of all trades master of none trope better than any other weapon in GTFO. The Assault Rifle has an average rate of fire, moderate damage, great stagger chance, an average reload, and lots of ammo. While its damage is lacking, it’s standard to a fault, and it doesn’t suffer in any significant areas, which is a great weapon to have.

The Assault Rifle might be average, but it’s reliable. At first, using a weapon that doesn’t excel at anything significant sounds boring and bland when it comes to weaponry. We assure you that having a gun capable of sustained fire at medium or close range, with a fast reload and tons of ammo, is exceptionally reliable.

Special Weapon: Mastaba R66 Revolver

The Revolver in GTFO is your typical six-shot Revolver with high damage capabilities with moderate recoil as its leading trade-off. The Revolver has a high rate of fire, high body shot, and headshot damage, an efficient range of roughly ten meters. This gun drops Strikers and Shooters at nearly any range with one headshot and has excellent ammo efficiency because of its stopping power.

While its stagger is also great, you can pick off targets at a decent range before they come close to your team. However, the Revolver’s major drawback is its weakness against larger enemies and Chargers.

Tool: C-Foam Launcher

The C-Foam Launcher is a versatile tool that allows you to seal doors and freeze enemies. It’s a very versatile tool that works well in this GTFO loadout. Spraying C-Foam on a door will seal it up, taking significantly longer for enemies to break it down. Enemies that are directly hit with C-Foam or walk on top of the foam will be unable to move or attack for seven seconds.

Having at least one C-Foam Launcher drastically increases your defenses. Locking down doors, slowing enemies, or freezing highly dangerous targets is a fantastic asset to have when you are trying to survive.

Melee Weapon: Mastaba Fixed Blade Knife

While the Knife isn’t the strongest in melee combat, it is reliably quick at taking out Sleepers. The Knife deals double damage to sleeping targets and has the fastest charge time out of any melee weapon. However, it does less damage than the Bat or Sledgehammer and has less range. The Knife’s strengths only shine in stealth. Otherwise, it would be best to stick with your guns for alarm fights.

1. The Scout Loadout in GTFO

5 Great GTFO Loadouts for Multiplayer (5)

Main Weapon: Bataldo Model 8 HEL Revolver

The HEL Revolver is our favorite Main Weapon in GTFO. The HEL Revolver has extremely serious damage, has strong stagger for easy follow-up headshots, fast reload, and reliable two-shot kills any ordinary enemy. This Revolver is like a small DMR, allowing you to stagger on the first bullet and headshot with the second at an effective range of ten meters.

The HEL Revolver also has an eight-round magazine, lots of spare ammo, and can pierce up to two targets with one shot. This weapon’s reload can be canceled halfway through the animation, allowing you to cut the reload time in half. It’s our favorite Main Weapon, and its only drawback is it can’t combat giant enemies. Therefore, it’s an excellent addition to a scout loadout in GTFO.

Special Weapon: Buckland S870 Shotgun

Like our previous build, we mentioned the Choke Mod Shotgun and its standard variant. We decided to pick the normal Shotgun for this GTFO build since the HEL Revolver already covers so much range that we needed a way to stagger and kill giant enemies. The normal Shotgun has a magazine size of eight shells, with a long reload time and slow rate of fire, but potentially double the DPS time thanks to its extra ammo and stagger.

The effective range is short and usable at four meters, but the power complements the Main Weapon exceptionally well. The Shotgun is relatively effective against all enemies, even if you have to be at close range.

Tool: D-Tek Optron IV Bio Tracker

The Bio Tracker allows you to track enemies in a fixed cone. Sleepers who haven’t been woken up yet show up as white, while active ones appear as red. Its secondary function marks targets that are moving, and marked enemies will be displayed and tracked on all players’ HUDs. The mark doesn’t last forever, and there’s a short cooldown before the Bio Tracker can mark enemies again.

The Bio Tracker’s extra function is synergy with Sentry Guns. Whenever you mark enemies with the Bio Tracker, nearby Sentry Guns will prioritize those marked enemies before anything else. It’s an extra function that allows Sentry Guns to have more combat time and focus on specific targets.

Melee Weapon: Santonian HDH Sledgehammer

The Sledgehammer is also our favorite melee weapon and one of the best weapons in GTFO. It rounds out our build. The Sledgehammer has the longest charge time but offers the most damage. There’s a minimal difference between using the Bat and the Hammer, and it roughly estimates a faster charge time or more damage per swing. The Sledgehammer also has the most stagger on any charged attack, allowing for easy follow-up hits if a monster happens to survive one swing.
