  3. #3 Best Colleges in Boston AreaTufts UniversityMedford, MA·4 Year·Rating 3.7 out of 5 1,076 reviewsFreshman: Tufts is an excellent school with lots of freedom to explore your passions. The professors are excellent and care about each student individually. There are lots of clubs to choose from and people are always welcoming. The campus vibe is very nice and laid back generally. Everyone is very passionate about some subject which is inspiring to be around. The dining halls are not amazing but Kindelvan and the other cafes are very convenient. Some of the activities can be hard to join as freshmen because it can be competitive but gets easier to get involved in later years. The dorms are not fancy but they certainly aren’t bad in general. People are quirky and a little nerdy but it keeps it interesting. In my experience, financial aid is also one of the best available. Overall I highly recommend going to Tufts!... I'm class of 2026, so I've been on campus for about two years now and each year, I've been able to meet some of the best professors and even better people. Conversations with peers are just as nuanced as the people and although the campus could still do with some diversity, I think we're definitely on the better end (I say this as a half Black and half-Asian student from a very predominantly white town). I've found that it's really easy to make friends because the campus and class sizes are so small (that being said, I'm also more extroverted). However, even my more introverted friends have said that they were eventually able to find close friends as their first or second year progressed -- the key is to be involved in campus or go to events and intentionally talk to people and reach out.... As a health science student, the location couldn't have been better. Imagine being surrounded by top research hospitals like MGH, BWH, Beth Israel, and Boston Children's! 10. #8 Best Colleges in Boston AreaBabson CollegeWellesley, MA·4 Year·Rating 3.8 out of 5 394 reviewsSophom*ore: Babson College has been a mix of enriching and challenging moments. I enjoyed the constant activities provided to us by students, the engaging classes that I was able to participate in, and the dedicated professors who genuinely cared about our learning. This was such a difference from high school, I could reach out to professors and instantly get a response within the first hour. To add, the diversity at Babson was another highlight for me. Growing up in a predominantly white neighborhood in both England, and New Jersey I found it fascinating and enlightening to learn about different cultures and interact with people from various backgrounds. However, the social life at Babson was a bit disappointing. It felt very cliquey, with distinct groups forming and people rarely branching out from their friend circles. This made it difficult to reach out and connect with others beyond these established groups. So although the different cultures were nice, they would remain between themselves.... Professors are knowledgeable and genuinely invested in students' success, making learning rigorous and engaging. The university's commitment to social justice and inclusivity enriches campus life. However, some campus facilities need updates to support modern educational needs, and student services can be understaffed, leading to delays in addressing student needs.I would like to see more investment in infrastructure and an expansion of student services staff to ensure comprehensive support for all students. 12. #10 Best Colleges in Boston AreaBentley UniversityWaltham, MA·4 Year·Rating 3.68 out of 5 805 reviewsFreshman: I just finished my first year at Bentley and I had a great experience! They prepare you for the future and that makes me feel good knowing I'll probably have a job right out of college so you get your money's worth. It is a much bigger party school than I expected, with the frat parties. Even though Greek Life is only about 20% it's very prominent on campus and those who are involved in it are very involved. But of course not everyone goes out and there's other things to do if you're not into that. In regards to the food, it was a lot better than people on here make it out to be. I think they improved that last year in particular because of the complaints. There are lots of options in the dining hall, and if worst comes to worst you don't like anything, the other food spots on campus are really good (La Cava, Einsteins, Currito). College is definitely an adjustment for anyone, especially first semester of your freshman year, but everyone I know grew to love Bentley by second semester.... Many students appreciate the hands-on learning opportunities provided by the university, including co-op programs, internships, and research projects. The campus is also praised for its diverse student body and supportive community atmosphere. However, like any institution, some areas could be improved.
